Nick Edelen Rises to Recognition by Progressive Railroading

Nick Edelen joined R. J. Corman in 2009 as a Management Trainee. After 18 months in the R. J. Corman Management Trainee Program, which included time in the operations of three of the company’s subsidiaries, Nick was assigned to work in what is now R. J. Corman Railroad Services Emergency Response. In this capacity, he has been active in the financial management of both large jobs and the overall monthly P&L performance. He has worked with railroads in coordinating R. J. Corman’s response to restore tracks washed out by floods and hurricane surges. Nick’s role has included key interactions with officials of both large and small railroads of significant service contracts, negotiations, and placement of expanded locations for essential emergency and non-emergency services in support of freight railroad lines.

Now, after just 9 years in the railroad industry, Nick Edelen is being recognized by Progressive Railroading as a Rising Star.

In 2013, Progressive Railroading began spotlighting people in the industry who might be big up-and-comers. The "Rising Stars" program was launched to identify individuals under the age of 40 who already are making a difference in the rail industry. Nick presently leads R. J. Corman’s emergency services operations including 240 employees in 18 divisions located in 14 states with a total of over 100 large pieces of equipment. He was nominated for his impact on the company, and for being viewed by others as an up-and-coming leader in the rail industry.

The 2018 Rising Star finalists were chosen based on their contributions to railroading, career achievements, education, demonstrated leadership, professional association activity and community involvement. They will celebrate at the 2018 Rising Stars recognition dinner this Sunday, on July 22, 2018 in Chicago, IL.

    R. J. Corman couldn’t agree more with the selection of Nick Edelen as a Rising Star in the industry. Be on the lookout for the 2018 honorees’ profiles in Progressive Railroading's September issue.
